The Midwest College Admissions Playbook
Natalie MarsanThe Midwest College Admissions Playbook
Michigan, UChicago, Ohio State and the University of Illinois share a region (just to name a few), but they read applications in completely different ways. Natalie, who worked in admissions at the University of Michigan before becoming an Empowerly counselor, breaks down four schools, four playbooks, and what it really takes to get in.

About this Webinar
The Midwest is home to some of the most competitive universities in the country and many admit rates are lower than families expect, especially out of state and for popular majors. Join Natalie, an Empowerly counselor who worked in admissions at the University of Michigan, who will give an overview and strategy of some of the region's top schools, such as the University of Michigan, the University of Chicago, The Ohio State, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. You’ll also see real Empowerly students who got in, and the strategy that made the difference. Whether your student is building a list or finishing applications, you’ll hear different ways to approach Midwest college admissions.
In this webinar, you'll learn:
- Pick the Right Door. At Michigan, your student is admitted to a specific college, and Ross and Engineering read very differently from the headline admit rate.
- Show How Your Student Thinks. UChicago wants a mind on the page, not a list of accomplishments. Learn what its essays are really looking for.
- Your Major Sets the Odds. At Ohio State and Illinois, the right major strategy, including a serious second choice, can change the outcome.
